for a Loan?
Have you been refused a loan or mortgage? No-one has an
automatic right to finance. Most lenders will make checks about you, but whatever
information comes back, it is the lender that makes the decision. There is no
central black list, and each finance company makes its own decisions.
Improving Your Score
You do not have just one score or rating - every lender will
use their own scoring process. Basic things that help are being resident at an address and
on the Voters Roll for a few years, having a clean history with no defaults, and
consistently paying your utility and other loan accounts on time. These are the type of
records that can be shared by the companies that you have accounts with - they use the
credit agencies as a place to pool their information to reduce fraud and spot persistent
poor payers. This forms one of the key elements of your file. |
