FAQ
Credit Reference provides UK based individuals with a
service to see their own credit reports with See My Credit.
Below are some of the most frequent questions and answers
about data held on consumers credit files.
What do you do?
We provide business and consumer access to online status reports and give consumers access
to their personal files.
Who holds my files and why?
UK credit reference agencies hold files on most adults, and financial lenders may search
these files before deciding whether to grant you a loan or finance.
What
information is held?
The Voters Roll, county court judgments as a result of non-payment of previous debts,
bankruptcy, and your history for paying other accounts or loans.
Is there a
'blacklist'?
No, there is no 'blacklist', every lender will make their own appraisal on the basis of
the information available to them.
I've been
refused a loan or card, can I do anything?
You may ask why, and if an agency report or other information suggested anything adverse,
you can ask the source of the data. You can then apply to the data source for a copy of
the information held about you, and you can correct it if it is wrong. Please note that we
cannot answer any questions you may have relating to specific cases - you must ask the
lender, not us.
